Seniors Theo Brown and Kayla Chung were crowned homecoming king and queen at their coronation today, Oct. 6, during the homecoming assembly.

“When I first found out I was on court, I was really excited. I felt excited mostly about who else was going to be on court and what we were all going to wear,” Brown said.

The other homecoming court members were, Kelly Miller, Nicole Carlson, Haley Skiko, Ralitza Stavreva, Tommy Lumsden, Evan Johnson, Andrew Jacob, and Sean Paton.

“I was super honored when I found out I was on court because I knew it was a big thing at Hersey where all the classes come together,” Chung said.

Students nominated for homecoming court are required to be in good academic and disciplinary standing and must be involved in at least three clubs or activities sponsored by the school.

“I’m most involved in the fine arts department. I’ve been in show choir and honors orchestra all four years. I love that everyone is so close and supportive of each other,” Chung said.

“I’m mostly involved in theatre and show choir. Come see Shrek on Nov. 2, 3, and 4,” Brown said. “I love performing and getting to tell people different stories whether it be through song or dance or acting.”

The homecoming royalty will be honored again at the football game tonight when they will ride around the track in cars.

“I think anybody would want to be on a court, it’s a big honor and a very humbling experience,” Brown said.

Both the king and queen are very grateful for all of the student body’s support.

“I’m so grateful for all of my fellow Huskies and this amazing school,” Brown said.
