Indie rock band Foster The People released their new album “Sacred Hearts Club,” combining electropop and indie pop to create a psychedelic sound that makes an ambitious turn from their usual 60s inspired sound into modern pop.

Their song “Loyal Like Sid & Nancy” was the leading single of the album.  It has a strong bass line that builds into a heavy foot-stomping, anthem-like chorus. The unique quality of this song is it’s title’s reference to the rock band Sex Pistols and lyrics mentioning other well known figures.

My favorite song on the album is “Doing It For The Money.”  Lead singer Mark Foster sings the upbeat lyrics with bold emotion and the tune is quite catchy.

Although I think they could’ve immersed some of their old sound into the album, this aspiring album proves the band has a sense of variety in genre and took the band outside of their comfort zone.

It wasn’t a chart topper, but it is definitely worth a lesson.
