For junior Kathryn Gerardi, fashion is more than just a passion. Gerardí works as an apparel sale consultan for Kostal Konnection. With this job, she also has the opportunity to work at Stylemax fashion shows downtown four times a year.
With her job, Gerardi is able to explore many parts of the fashion industry.
“My favorite part about working at Stylemax is figuring out a buyer’s style and pulling looks they love. Modeling the clothes is really fun too; lots of pieces are different on [a person] than on the hanger,” Gerardi said.
This job is not the typical after-school-job for high schoolers. Gerardi has gained experience in the fashion industry earlier than most.
“Lots of college students work with me as part of internships. It’s really cool to be doing the same work as college juniors and seniors,” Gerardi said.
Her job has other perks as well.
“Another great part of my job is getting a preview next season’s trends as we usually have all four seasons for clothes at one show,” Gerardi said.
This job is just the first step for Gerardi in the fashion world. “In the future, I want to be on the executive side of the fashion industry. This job gives me great insight into the business side of fashion and what it takes to be a fashion merchandiser,” Gerardi said.
